Review of Rick Reed's Fugue

  • Jan. 22nd, 2009 at 2:31 PM

And now for something completely different -- at least for me. I read a lot of gay books, mysteries, erotica a few that don't have a category but they're written by or for a gay audience. But I normally don't get into the more extreme kinks. I can dig some light bondage but the extremes of the master/slave dynamics has always escaped me. Then I found Rick Reed's novella, Fugue. It's a short piece about a told of a slave waiting for his master to come to him. He's bound, gagged and blindfolded in a creepy basement someplace and while he waits, he dreams...

Rick Reed's powerful writing sent me to a world I never imagined and brought it to delcious life. I would never engage in this kind of behavoir but he made me believe that for this couple it was indeed a relationship of love, no matter how bizarre it might seem on the surface. Pick up Fugue and see for yourself.
